Monument Square or the Pathfinder

Monument Square or the Pathfinder – Peladão (naked)!

Did you know that the sculpture “Peladão (naked )' 'is called: Monument to Pathfinder?

And you were wondering why the monument is naked like that?

Or by whom it was created, or even why the monument was built?

Well, the Monument to the Pathfinder, was created by artist Henry Aragon, and he relied on a pioneer who arrived here in our town, and his nakedness is the pioneer who had nothing, and only by his power he created and developed the our city!

And the date on which the monument was inaugurated in researching you're curious, arms raised to heaven? The monument was inaugurated in 1972 and is a sculpture that depicts nudity and through his arms raised to heaven the simplicity and faith of the pioneers of Maringá. On the other hand, three stylizedaxessymbolize roads open in the city of virgin forest.


And for those who do not know, the Monument to the Pathfinder, or the called Praça do Peladão (naked square), is located on the square in September 7th Avenue Brazil.

Parque do Ingá

Parque do Inga was founded in 1971. In 1990 it became a permanent conservation area. With native trees and wildlife, the park was urbanized with cobblestones that urbanized central avenues of the city. The site has always been the main point of leisure for the population of Maringá, but also to a large audience in the region.
 More than two years, sick monkeys did the government close the park and start their revival, which has not yet ended. The works are not extinguished by a variety of factors. The time when the place was closed population withdrew their most important recreation area.
 Now reopened, the Park of Inga takes its role partially, many works are still ongoing and should change the direction of its use, but also whom to serve. A key change will be administered by a private company. Spaces of entertainment and services will be in charge of free enterprise. What must maintain service quality and conservation.
 Before its closure, the Park of Inga was visited by the low income population. Buses arrived with visitors from neighboring towns who passed Sunday, especially within the site. A pleasure that can now return.
 Already, outside, walking around the park, those who never failed to do their daily physical activities. Most of the better income, which until now had not seen the closure of the site a significant loss. Were not affected.

                  Curiosities
Did you know that the main curiosity of the Park of Inga was the restoration and relocation of the cave of the Ingá Park, built in 1971. Several people took pictures and faithful praying at the foot of Our Lady Aparecida. The image of the saint was enshrined in the Ingá Park on October 10, 1971, at the hands of Governor Harold Leon Peres. According to the Archdiocese of Maringá, in time, a multitude of the faithful followed a procession to install the image in the cave. For many years the cave was a pilgrimage site.

Cathedral

The Cathedral of Maringá has 112m of height and more 12m with the cross on top, its height is 84m free, inside the two cones 45m height, with an outside diameter of 50m and 38m with built, and its capacity is for 4700 people.
                Its architecture is modern and bold, it was designed by Dom Jaime Luiz Coelho and planned by the architect José Augusto Bellucci.
                Did you know what is the tallest monument in South America? The highest is the Cathedral of Maringá, and it’s also the 10th tallest monument in the world.
The cathedral is dedicated to Our Lady of Glory, it was built in the period from July 1959 to May 1972. The cathedral was consecrated on May 3rd, 1981. In January 1982 it received the title of Cathedral Basilica.
                
 The main door is facing north, the chapel of the holy to the rising sun and to the west of the baptistery. To the south the large door leads to the crypt where the bishops are buried, and that is under the main altar. 1360 in the ossuary has loculi, which acquire the faithful to hold the remains of their loved ones.
                Its cornerstone is a piece of marble taken from the excavations of St. Peter's Basilica by Pope Pius XII, that was released on August 15, 1958 in a ceremony sponsored by the diocesan bishop, Dom Jaime Luiz Coelho, and chaired by the then Archbishop of Curitiba, Manuel da Silveira D'Elboux.

Parque do Ingá


Parque do Ingá is a protected forest of 47.3 hectares in the city of  Maringá, Paraná.  It's area preserves the original layout of the city.It was inaugurated on Setember 22,1975 and  declared a permanet conservation area as the city Parque in 1991 by the Municipal Organic Law.
       
Did you know that the Parque do Ingá was created in 1943, but until the  1970, it was just a forest reserve maintained in the layout of the city?


Parque do Ingá was founded in October 10, 1971 during the tenure of Mayor Dr. Adriano José Valente (1969-1972). It was built in 482 square meters, with artificial lake, 7 miles ofcobblestone paving (which were removed from the Brazil Avenue), administrative building, and hosting the locomotive 608,which inaugurated the railway station in 1954.

              On June 21st, 1978  the Japanese Garden was inaugurated  in honor of the Prince ofJapan Akihiro and his wife, who were visiting the country and passed through Maringá.  It has natural beauty and it is a wildlife  sanctuary in the urban center, atracting over one million  visitors per year! 
Inside the Parque there are series of scientific, recreationnal and educational activies. Students from the region condut regular monitoring of environmental education and conservation of the place.

Ingá Park


Ingá Park is a protected forest of 47.3 hectares in Maringá city, Paraná. It still preserves the original layout of the city.  It was inaugurated on September 22nd, 1975, and it was declared a permanent conservation area in 1991 as a Municipal Park, according to the Municipal Organic Law.
With its natural beauty, it is a wildlife sanctuary in the urban center and attracts over one million visitors per year - mostly students from the regionof Maringá and from other states.

Curiosities:

Did you know that inside the park there is a laboratory where everyone can learn in practice the meaning of words related to conservation and environmental awareness?
Did you know the park was closed?
Unfortunately after discovering the cause of death of the monkeys that caused the closing of the park for 100 days, but it remained closed for renovations.
After the reopening of the park some people had a small disappointment because of they would like to see more animals there.
Ingá Park is a fantastic place to visit in Maringá.

ACEMA



                                  ACEMA - Maringá
ACEMA is the entity that represents the community-nipo Brazil in Maringá.  It appeared in June 18, 1947, under the name initial MARINGÁ NIHONJINKAI (Japanese Association of Maringá) and represented 65 immigrant families established there.

That same year, concurrent with the activities of MARINGÁ NIHONJINKAI, the young generation-Brazilian nipo created their own association: the SOCEMA - Sports Cultural Society of Maringá.
The merger of these companies in December 1972 gave rise to the ACEMA - SPORTS AND CULTURAL ASSOCIATION MARINGÁ, which today brings together approximately 2,000 associates.
In June 20th, 1978, the day of the 70th Anniversary of Japanese Immigration to Brazil, launched the cornerstone of the current headquarters of ACEM by Their Highnesses Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko, the heirs of the Imperial Family of Japan, then on an official visit to Brazil.
 

The completion of the works took place in October 1980, with new works by constantly widening and improvements are made.
Aiming at promotion of sports, cultural and social, the ACEMA is a fundamental principle to preserve and disseminate the traditions, customs and teachings of ancient Japanese culture combined with the desire to contribute through work, dedication and love for a better world.

                            Theatre Calil Haddad



Why Calil Haddad?
   Calil Haddad theatre was founded in 1996, and named after the first playwright of Maringá, which has brought the first theater groups to Maringá.


Did you Know?
  The theater has a kind of museum, a place where artists' works from Maringá are exposed.
   And that it is the biggest theater in northern Paraná with capacity for 797 people.
 Inside the theate we found a mosaic on the wall that tells the story in images of Maringá.
